Transitioning to natural hair! (Natural hair series pt 2)

Hey lovelies!

Here are my tips on how to transition to natural hair without the big chop. This is what has helped me to manage my hair & be patient so I don't go back to the creamy crack.

- heat is not your friend! : yeah it may seem easier to just keep flat ironing your hair until you are ready for your big chop but all it's doing is damaging & frying your new growth that you've been trying to maintain. If you are going to use heat limit it to once or twice a month with a heat protectant.

- you don't need to shampoo your hair with every wash : I shampoo my hair every 2-3 weeks depending on how much product buildup I have. I try to stick to sulfate free shampoo but if I have silicones built up I use a almost all natural clarifying shampoo. Remember to scrub only your scalp then work the shampoo through your hair as you rise.

- natural hair craves moisture : unlike relaxed hair, natural hair loves moisture. I make sure to moisturize my hair when needed then seal my hair with an oil. Also remember to deep condition your hair once a week.

- drink water & eat healthy : the healthier you are inside the healthier you are outside. This includes your hair. I noticed my hair has grown so much faster & had been so much stronger since I've been on this health food craze.

- join Hairlista.com & YouTube : that website has really been like a support group. Any questions I had have been answered between hairlista & YouTube. Watch videos from girls who have been transitioning or have been natural for a while who have your hair type or similar to get ideas on styling & hair care. Hairlista also has hundreds of girls who have successfully transitioned with many tips.
