Journey to natural & healthy hair! (Part 1)

Hey there lovelies!

Today I'm gonna talk to you about my natural hair journey & how you too can join me.

I honestly don't remember the exact date of my last texlaxer but it was between October & November of 2011. I've gone through sew-in weaves, sinigalese twist, & other protective styles in order to preserve my hair.

I don't think short hair fits me, I think I have a big round head not meant for a TWA so I've been transitioning instead of doing a big chop. Lol If I could I would have Amber Rose'd my hair a long time ago.

Why did I chose to transition?
To make a long story short, I've been struggling to keep my hair health ever since my first relaxer when I was in 5th grade. It has been a roller coaster battle trying to keep my hair from breaking or thinning. When I was taking out my sinigalese twist I remembered all the compliments I used to get on my hair texture when I was little & the only reason I relaxed my hair was to fit in with my classmates. My hair was never unmanageable, I had the same struggle with my mom detangling like most little girls of color, it was only a matter of having the same hair styles as my friends & the dolls I used to have. My epiphany: I was born with beautiful, un-nappy, manageable, full of body hair so it's time for me to embrace it.

I did my 1st mini big chop in July (again I don't remember the exact date) meaning I cut off all the dead ends & most of the chemically altered hair. I still have some straight ends because I still want to be able to leave out some hair when I decide to do weaves or put my hair in a ponytail.

My final big chop will be either December 31,2012 or January 1, 2013
